Bucharest can experience significant traffic congestion, particularly on weekdays between 07:00–10:00 and 16:00–19:00. If you are travelling to Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP), we recommend allowing extra time for your journey.

Airport Transportation Options

• Airport Train: The direct train between Gara de Nord (Bucharest North Railway Station) and Henri Coandă International Airport operates approximately every 40 minutes. The journey takes around 20–25 minutes. Services generally run from 05:00 until 23:00.
• Bus: Public transport buses connect the city with the airport. The airport line operates throughout the day, with selected services also available during the night. Please check the latest timetable before travelling.

• Uber and Bolt: These authorised ride-hailing services are widely available and can be booked through their official mobile applications.
• Licensed Taxis: Use only authorised taxis and avoid accepting rides from individuals offering unofficial transportation services.

Public Transport in Bucharest

• Metro: The Bucharest Metro generally operates daily between 05:00 and 23:00.
• Trams, Buses and Trolleybuses: Most surface public transport services operate approximately between 04:30 and 23:00, although schedules may vary depending on the route and day of the week.

Romanian law requires all accommodation providers to register their guests. This includes hotels, apartments, guesthouses, and short-term rentals.

Revenue generated through this mechanism supports initiatives aimed at:

The applicable rate and collection method are determined by the Municipality of Bucharest and will be communicated by your accommodation provider as part of the booking or check-in process.
